Took the ferry from Doolin over to Inishmore (the Aran Islands). Rented some bikes (the car was back at Doolin), and discovered that the phrase "its just like riding a bike, you never forget"... is a bit over-stated... I mean you remember how, but your fanny forgets the pain involved (the next day). Plus I think I never found more than 3 of the (supposed) 21 gears on the "premium" rental bike that I had.
So we biked (seemingly almost back to New York), across the island, to the stone fort ruins. Amazingly old. Met up and chatted with some folks on a biking tour of Ireland, we think thru REI. Also did the obligatory dip in the ocean (up to my knees)... brrrrrrrrrr.
Another place were a reservation is a good idea, also some good food.
